Okay. My dream career is to become an architect one day.
I know UCSD does not have a architecture program.
But this is the only UC that accepted me (rejected: UCLA, my first choice]

I am transferring to UCSD this upcoming Fall 2011, majoring in Urban Studies and Planning (area of concentration: Urban Design/Built Environment), which is the closest major relating to architecture.

Anyone in the same boat as I am?
Any advice? tips?

Civil engineering has some crossover

If you want to be a certified architect then you should go to a undergrad architect program i.e. CalPoly for example. Then if are interested in broadening your knowledge and becoming a partner in a firm take Urban Studies (with built environment planning) as your grad degree i.e. Cal’s.

Since I am already accepted in UCSD’s Urban Studies and Planning Program (for undergrad). I will most likely apply for architecture grad school (like in UCLA [again], Cal, Cal POLY Pomona, Sci-Arch)

Do you go UCSD?

No, but do admire their Urban Studies and Planning program still. I’d recommend taking a architectural history (or two!), freehand drawing and some sort of CAD class to start developing and advancing the skillset you will need.
