i wanna nice body!!!!

so i thought 'why not try to get in shape before the summer?'
and downloaded some videos of pilates.

but i don't really know much about pilates...
I've only been doing it for 2 days but don't know what results i'm supposed to expect.

So do pilates build muscles? cus i don't really want any more muscles..
I just want to get rid of the fat..
do pilates make you skinnier as in shape wise?
do pilates make you lose weight or just make you look different?
I'm a girl btw :)

how do you guys work out?

Drink tons of water. Yoga might help.

Does having a fast metabolism help?
how does drinking lots of water help?

A fast metabolism burns everything you eat faster, I think. Water cleans the inpurities out of your body.

I had plans to work out a lot this summer. First Monday that I’m out of school, my doctor tells me that I can’t do any strenuous activity for six weeks. UGH!

You won’t gain significant muscle mass with aerobic activity, and pilates, I believe, is mostly aerobic.
As for your shape, you are not going to suddenly become an hourglass if you were always a pear. In general, people lose weight evenly over their entire bodies, but everyone has some slight predisposition to lose (and to put on) weight in one place rather than another. If I diet or increase exercise, my stomach stars to cave in before my inner thighs so much as budge. My friend is the exact opposite. But that predisposition is proportional to the current division of fat on one’s body, in general. So no, your shape will not be significantly altered.

I mostly maintain weight by dancing. I don’t dance in the summers, so then I’m not hungry and I don’t have to work out :). But if I want to exercise, then I run. My parents might finally buy me a bike soon (they thought I would die riding it before) so I can exercise that way too.

Walking always helps burn calories.

I jog everyday, you should also try vegetarianism for the summer. I do that every year.

^ I do vegetarianism 24/7  I don’t know if it helps keep the weight off though because I’ve never been a meat-eater to compare.

Pilates is terrific for toning; so if that’s what you’re going for, stick with Pilates.
You might also want to consider using light weights as well.

@putturani
Vegetarianism ftw! Fruit and veggies everyday. Soy burgers are the best. yum

I just don’t like meat (unless it’s a fast food burger…).

pilates won’t really help you lose weight… start doing cardio, like running or jump roping. i’m also vegetarian!

but i’m also anemic with a slew of metabolic conditions, so it didn’t do anything for my weight. i love running, but my weight hasn’t moved since like middle school. (and i was chubby then bahaha.)

also, pilates is an anaerobic activity. it builds tone and flexibility, but not much else.

Why not?

This would be a reason you don’t like meat, not a reason to eat it. A Fast food burger is the last type of “meat” I would eat. :</p>

^Legit though.

Hmm try walking, it helped me. Like fast walking or jogging on the tread-mill or something. And I agree with the person who recommended light weights.

Lots of veggies out here :). Hope it doesn’t turn into one of those veg vs. non-veg arguments again. Am I the only veggie here who doesn’t eat soy on a regular basis?

I realized that I loved to run when I ran in this marathon activity at my school…I have loved to run since then. I slowly lost weight…though I do not exactly like my figure, I am in shape…

try eating healthier…keeping a balanced diet. Do away with the soda and grease. I still eat sweets :b

Also, you could try to not eat later than 5. It is hard for your body to burn off that fat from your evening foods when you do not have a high activity at that point in the day.

Good Luck!

P90x for super serious, or turbo jam.

Eat healthy. Your diet is 80% of your weight loss.

Do lots of cardio stuff (running, swimming, etc.)

^ I would also have to agree w/ rayna.

Just try eating healthy…I promise you it’s really, really not that hard. Just because if you’re eating healthy doesn’t mean that it has to taste bad. Try to make a trip to ur local natural foods/whole foods supermarket. Try eating organic food…even switch the milk…it’s healthier and tastes amazing. (This because my mom buys almost everything organic, except for breakfast stuff [not including pancakes]).

When working out try listening to some music…find a running buddy…also try to swim…try making it fun.

Again, don’t feel super pressured to loose too much weight…(don’t go under ur bmi) find a weight that you’re comfortable and HEALTHY at maintaining. Don’t worry too much about numbers.

Luckily, I have never had to worry about weight…I have a pretty high metabolism…but that’s probably because I was raised in a household that eats very healthy/good eating habits…plus I get full easily and eating too much junk food makes me feel nauseas.

However, my older sister who didn’t really grow up with me is overweight…sadly.

But I really do wish sometimes that I was a little bit more voluptuous…so I could have a butt…lmao mine is just as bad as a white girl’s …but I don’t want mine to look like Nikki Minaj’s…hahahahaha. (but ive heard certain workouts can help…like hiking??!idk…).

Oh yeah, try finding a snack that you can much on so you won’t get tempted to overload on food/curb ur hunger

good luck :]
