I want a fresh start at math.

Ive always been an A-B student. I never had to study, I would finish projects the night before, and homework the second it was due. Everything came easy for me except for math though. It probably started in 4th grade whenever our teacher made us do an exercise called mad minute. We were given a sheet of paper with simple equations on it, and told to do as many as we could. We ended up being graded on how many columns we could do, and it put me under a lot of pressure, so I would skip showing my work, and divide by multiples of two, and other weird methods. Long story short I started to do worse, and worse in math. I would cheat of friends papers, and would get by on daily grades, and the standardized state tests were not a problem because they were multiple choice, and two of the answers were usually just filler so I had a 50% chance of getting the right answer, and typically did, plus the graphing questions would get me by like the daily grades.

I never did study, and always managed to just get by. I graduated high school no problem, and when I took my first college math class I dropped out, and started welding. Well welding pays well, but its very monotonous, and I don't want to weld till I retire or get replaced by robots. So with that being said I want to go back to college, and get the math classes out of the way, and maybe even enjoy them. Are there any programs like mymathlab or larsons or anything like that, that I could just potentially start fresh k-12? I dont mind paying a little, but a free program would be all the better.

tl:dr
Are there any programs like mymathlab that are free or cheap, that I can try, and get a fresh start, and better understanding of math?

I totally understand- lots of people who might have been originally good at math tend to suffer at some point. For me it was calculus- I used to breeze by math but now I found that I had to try really hard to get good grades in the subject. Instead of backing out and declaring my downfall, I stepped up to the challenge, studied hard, and ended up doing really well. I can recommend Khan Academy if you haven’t heard of it already; it has math videos that range anywhere from simple arithmetic to college level stuff. Also, you can enroll in an online college class with MOOCs such as Coursera. Those classes are a bit more advanced.

Math my worst subject…

Look up algebra 1 and basic geometry videos on youtube, than move to algebra 2/pre calcThan you’ll be caught up in k-12

Make an account at khan academy and do the math practice from the very beginning (yes start with basic addition–it will go ver fast!). When you get to problems you do not understand, watch the accompanying videos.

All free.
