I currently attend Riverwood International, a public IB school. I am a sophomore, so I’m not in the IB program yet. I want to attend a boarding IB school with better education and smaller classes, but there are several problems.
First, the cost- obviously, I can’t just tell my parents I’m miserable at this school and expect them to pay $43,000 on the spot. Also, my dad sees any sort of private school as a spoiled-kid idea.
Second, I’m only 14, and I’m almost certain this would cause my parents to be dead-set against boarding school.
Third, the school I want to attend is in Arizona, and I currently live in Georgia, so they wouldn’t be able to see me very often.
Any ideas on how to explain that this would be great for college and my mental health as a whole?
Hi runningyouth, I would sit down with your parents have talk with them about the fact that you are not enjoying the setting of your current school. Show them the things you love about the school you’re interested in and let them know right away if your school has financial aid.
Thank you for your advice! I will definitely try that!
