I've been admitted to Georgetown, sent in my deposit, and I'm going! I'm really excited! I have been thinking more, though, about the academic course I will take for these next four years and have come to the tentative conclusion that I want to challenge myself in the School of Foreign Services instead of being a student in the College.

My question is, how easy is it to transfer into the School of Foreign Services from the College and when is the soonest this can be done? (I don't expect to be able to transfer before the school year starts...in fact, it will probably be helpful to be in the College for a bit before I can make a confident decision on transferring) If anyone has first-hand experience with this, I would appreciate your insight.

thank you.

If you are sure, you can transfer this summer, contact the deans office asap. It will make your first year a lot easier. If not its still an easier switch to go from the SFS to the college.

@SFShoya, are you sure? I’ve heard a lot about how it’s really not possible to do that since you were accepted to a certain college within the university…would I have to redo another whole application?

bump…I’ve contacted the undergrad admissions office via email and have gotten nothing from them. I feel as if my window of opportunity to pursue a transfer into a different gtown school is closing quickly. Does anyone know how to do this?

Talk to the SFS dean’s office not admissions. I am pretty positive about transferring over summer.
