My freshman year of college I went to a school & I ended up having to leave bc it was too much money. I moved in with my grandmother and I began attending a community college. The issue that I have is I don’t want to continue going to this college. I want to attend a four year bc my desired major requires that. My issue is I cannot get in to any other school without receiving a transcript from my old school , however I still owe them 10,000. I don’t know what to do and frankly I don’t just have that kind of money sitting around. What are my options ? How can I get back in to a four year? I want to finish school no one in my family has and I just want to be successful in life.
How would you pay for the four-year if the community college is already hard to afford?
You’ll have to pay off the debt before you can get your transcripts to transfer.
I didn’t say the community college was hard to afford I was referring to the four year ? But thanks. I guess
I apologize, I misread. Didn’t realize the bill was not from the CC but a previous four-year. The question of affordability still stands, though.
You’ll have to pay the $10k off to get your transcripts released. I’d finish the 2-year degree then work until the 4-year college has been paid. What are your plans for transfer? Are there 4-year colleges you can commute to from your grandma’s house?
You can’t get your 2-year degree until you pay off the first place. That transcript has to be submitted to your CC as part of your permanent academic record.
You need to contact the first place, and work out a payment plan to get rid of the bill.
I’m already in school for my two year degree , they weren’t a problem
Yes yes there are 4 years I can go to where I can commute
Do you have the funds to complete your 2 year degree? Are you working currently? It sounds like you might need to take a break from school at some point and work to raise money to earn your 4 year degree. Maybe you can earn a 2 year certificate that will put you in a position to earn a good salary for a couple of years, and then return to school? Don’t be disheartened, a lot of people take more than 4 years to get their bachelors degree.
