...And into some kind of university such as Vassar, Amherst, or a similarly-tiered college.
In-state would be ideally: UF or FSU

Here are my stats [I have yet to take the SAT]:
GPA: Unweighted=3.7; Weighted=4.3
AP Classes: Currently taking AP Composition/Writing
Extra Curriculars: Gathered a grassroots project to raise homelessness in my community in correlation with the American Red Cross; Volunteer at an International Preschool; Competitive Ballroom Dancer; Classical Singer; Writer [published]
Input? How can I improve? Keep working on the GPA or...?
Thank you. :)

Are you a junior? If you’re a senior, take your SAT VERY soon as well as some SATIIs (or the ACT if you prefer). You have some interesting ECs, continue devoting time to them and keep your GPA up…especially for LACs like the ones you’re aiming for, also take a good amount of time thinking about what you write for your essays so you can stand out from the crowd.

In-state, you would definitely be into FSU. Your extracurriculars are definitely something UF likes, but, unless your school doesn’t offer many APs, they may wonder why you didn’t challenge yourself more academically. It would all come down to that, legacy, and class rank, I think for UF. But you have a decent shot there as well.

I agree with the suggestion to beef up standardized testing for the out-of-state schools. I definitely sympathize with wanting to leave Florida. Good luck!

Yeah I live in Tallahassee too. I dual enroll this year at FSU, and it’s really not bad, even though I’m not applying there. UF is a great school though, and if you get at least a 2070 on the SAT, you can be in their honors program, which I highly recommend. Don’t get out of FL just to get out of FL. Depending on where you’re from, I’d guess Tallahassee is very different (If you’re from Orlando or Miami).

I was offered a $45,000 scholarship to U of Miami, so I guess that’s definitely a consideration now? Hrm.
Yeah, I wasn’t allowed to take many APs, but I plan on jacking up the number since my school switches from block to seven-period next year. :]
Thanks for the responses!
