I want to go to boarding school as a sophomore? Any chance?

Well, to first start off, I have a tricky situation on my hands because I had to go to a new school in the 8th grade. Why? My old school was closed down. So, I was kinda behind because my old school didn't teach me a lot of stuff academically and it really took a punch on my grades. Now, as a freshman, I'm going to put my mind to it and make straight A's, I'm going to try my hardest at school, join the Cooking Club and Softball.
Unfortunately, I didn't join any clubs in my 8th grade year because they were not organized, a few little clubs that were so common like, cheer leading, soccer, and basketball. Ummm....the so called 'coaches' were teachers with no skills at all, oh and the cheer leading option was new, that was the first cheer leading team they had in the school. Not trying to bash anyone here...but I did join a newspaper club in 7th grade in my old school.
Now, I'm quite worried on what to do, these are my top three choices in NJ: Peddie School, Blair Academy, and The Hun School of Princeton. These are a few top boarding schools in New Jersey and their possible competitive. I know they are going to ask for recommendations as student What should I do? What do you recommended? Trust me, I'm going to work HARD and I'm really passionate about this. Any advice? Any experience in boarding school or are you sending your child to boarding?
