Let everyone write here why he or she wants to go to college. It’s your turn!

to broaden my horizons, develop as a person, and gain independence. most importantly, so i can make lots of $$$ to buy a chocolate waterfall ala willy wonka, white bunnies with black ears, tiffany lamps, pomegranate juice, and a husband to do my bidding.

because I want to get a good education. I like learning. :p

A college education is now a necessity.

The question is comparable to "Why do you wear clothes?" Sure, we could debate the merits of wearing clothes, but it would be silly.

LOL sabnetwork. Go to college so I can go to med school so I can be a doctor so I can get the Caddy with the Sports Luxury Palace and start a charity foo. LOL

Because I want to be successful and have a great job someday. My parents had to struggle to support my family and I don't want to live a life like that.

Seriously, it's to do better than my parents did. They had a rough start though with adult immigration and I grant my mother credit for getting as far as she did. I just want to get the education (I do love to learn also), meet new people, get a job I love, and never have to worry about cutting out cable tv just so we can get by one month. Plus, it'll be an amazing adventure and I'm definitely up for it!!

i want to be the next american idiot.

or the next Apprentice.

i don't want to not go to college

...because Burger King is a poor employer.

Why DO we wear clothes?

to compensate physical "inadequacies". And Please, I Do NOT Want To See ANYONE over 50 sans clothes. Lol :-)

...student basketball tickets are easier to come by.

In case the stock market crashes. I just want to be a day trader as of now :)

to make money..$$$ good life, family, job, house,, u know.. and better brain as well

oh and also to try to get far far away from ca

this is pretty sad...out of the 15 replies only one wanted to go b/c they want to learn. the rest saw it as a career path.

Actually, I don't think that's ridiculous at all. People who like learning for learning's sake don't just store the knowledge in their heads, like a Beanie Baby collection. They use their knowledge when it's applicable, or discuss it with other people to either reaffirm of change their perspectives. In fact, that's what college is best for- what better way for there to become a doctor/lawyer/etc. than to learn it in the best institution possible?

Where it becomes sad is when people use their knowledge because they think it'll help them make lots of money or other unnecessary materialistic gains. And that's only sad because they they're sacrificing happiness for what they think will make them happy- but won't.

No one would go to college if it didn't make them more money. Honestly, who would pay $160,000 just to come back and work at McDonald's? That's ridiculous.

i would pick a college degree with a job paying about 90k than no degree paying several millions
