I want to transfer out of georgetown. I want to go to wellesley this fall. I am a freshman right now. Will I have a better chance of being accepted as a transfer student to wellesley if I was accepted as a regular student when I was a senior in high school?

any particular reasons why gtown isnt working for you?

Well, the deadline for Fall 2007 apps for Wellesley is March 1, so if you want to apply, you basically need to devote the next two weeks of your life non-stop to applying.

yeah you need to just get to work now - the biggest deal is going to be getting some profs to send recs to Wellesley within the next two weeks. If you've got a decent GPA and reasons, coming from G-town, you should get in since Wellesley accepts around 40% of transfers (or did for 05).

even if I am a freshman???? because I saw on the wellesley website that wellesley discourages 2nd semester freshman from applying...but will i have a better chance of being accepted if i was already accepted before?? do they have my first application??

1) What they meand when they say that they discourage 2nd semester freshmen from applying is that they don't want apps from 1st years looking to transfer in THIS JANUARY. You would be applying for admission in Fall 2007, which is fine.
2) They don't have your previous application on file...you can call the office and ask about SAT scores though, they might still have those.
3) BRAND_182: Did you get the 40% from USNews or Wellesley? Where?
4) Your previous acceptance will have no (documented) impact on this application.
5) Why don't you like Georgetown?
6)If you can't get an application together in time to meet the March 1st deadline, you can apply for admission for the Spring 2008 semester (I think). Most schools have better Spring semester acceptance rates. Someone correct me if Wellesley does not have Spring Transfer Admissions.
7) Good Luck!!!

If you got into Georgetown I think as long as you do reasonably well you should have a great shot at Wellesley. Apply this year though, don't wait a year.

I agree, apply now, IF you can. You have a lot of stuff to do between now and March 1st. Like a lot. I devoted 2 months to non-stop transfer application makin.

What's your GPA?

yes the transfer rate was on college board, though I haven't checked it in awhile and I think they're updating schools (often with incorrect information). It is also still listing that rate on USNews Premium Edition, but that is taken from 05.
