I'm at community college now, and decided a career in the advertising industry is a good fit for me. I want to work as something like an account executive, advertising manager, creative director, etc. I'm also a bit of a creative than a business school type person.

Looking at majors, I can major in communication/communications studies with an emphasis in mass communications at schools like USC, NYU, or UCLA. The sites for those schools say that students with a comm degree do get work in PR/advertising, and marketing.

On the other hand, some schools, like Boston University, Syracuse, Fordham, Pepperdine, Chapman, etc have specific advertising majors that teach practical advertising skills and truly prepare you for the industry. Schools like UCLA, USC and NYU give a more theoretical education with little to no practical education.

So which is better? An" UNpractical degree from a big name university combined with internships....OR a proper advertising degree with relevant skills (+ internships) from a school with less prestige.

This is long yes but please help me out.
