Firstly, U of M and UVa have finance majors. UCLA only has business economics.

So what?

Stanford and Harvard don't have finance majors.

I hope he's not crying by himself right now.

UCLA - Great school, but intense atmosphere.

UCSB - Awesome schools, and in some ways might be better than UCLA.

UW-Madison - I thought about applying here, and liked what I heard...but Wisconsin is cold!

U of Miami - Another place I thought about, but I'm not sure if it would be a place I'd be happy at.

Have you been reading anything I said? I FEEL THAT IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT A UNIVERSITY HAVE THE EXACT MAJOR THAT I WANT.

Besides that fact, I'd rather jump off the Golden Gate Bridge than go to Stanford. And Harvard, well, Harvard's Harvard. If I can get into those schools, I'd consider Wharton way before I consider them.

haha, I agree. Although I think this thread is about the schools in general (not a particular major). In your case (investment banking), UCLA would be a better choice than U of Miami because many more investment banks recruit at UCLA than U of Miami (if any recruit at U of Miami).

And why Stern over Wharton?

In response to SoCal18, since you're a CA resident, keep in mind of costs.

For academics:
1. UCLA
2. UW Madison
3. UCSB
4. UMiami

For academics and cost (my list):
1. UCLA
2. UCSB
3. UW Madison
4. UMiami

Factor in social life as well, UCLA and UCSB would still be #1 and #2 respectively for me.
