Great luck with that.
I personally don’t feel that that alone is going to sway their opinion. I would wait until you have something more substantial to add.

To everyone else—it wouldn’t hurt for Stupefy to let them know! :]
“High in your list” is very different from being “1st choice.”

Stupefy, I think that’s a fine idea, but ideally I would try to find a way to work that statement in with something to add to your application (as Jodie said, when you have something more substantial to add). For example, if you want to update your resume to Yale by sending them a letter, that would be the perfect time to subtlely make a statement in the letter about how Yale is still your first choice. That’s what I did (send an updated notable awards sheet)! Use papex’s link and fax the letter to them if you decide to and good luck! :]

I was actually thinking about doing the same thing :]
I’m going to combine the “yale’s still my #1!!” statement with an extra teacher rec and a few things that I’ve accomplished since applying in november. Planning on saying something like…“Thank you for still considering me and I am keeping my fingers crossed for the RD round, etc etc…”
I can only wonder how much it will help :/

^ I wouldn’t send in an extra rec. Maybe when your school sends out your first semester grades?

I also don’t think it’s a bad idea. I know a friend whose counselor told him to send e-mails to schools that waitlisted him letting them know he still really wanted to attend those schools.

My counselor advised me to send a letter why Yale is my first choice along with an updated list of awards in late Jan/early Feb. I also asked her if I could send a peer rec that a friend wrote for the Dartmouth supplement, and she said to send that in too.

I was deferred from MIT and here are the points I plan to hit on my letter:

state acceptance of deferral, state thanks for considering me

list that MIT is my #1

inform about new stuff that’s happened

thank again

I sent in a letter (not an email, I think its nice for them to have an actual sheet of paper), and my counselor is sending one as well. I talked about what I’ve been doing for the past few months (nothing radically new, just showing that I continue to be committed and challenge myself), and then emphasized that Yale is my absolute top choice!
