I was deferred from Bates and my GPA dropped .08 pts (98.6 to 97% drop)... chances?

So, my question is… because of the huge drop (according to my counselor even a .01 drop is big for colleges), will my chances of getting in be very slim?

1st Quarter GPA: 3.93 (all As, 1 B+)

  • The only one Bates saw on my ED application

2nd Quarter GPA: 3.85 (all As, 1 B+, 1 B)

Lately, we got our Quarter 3 Progress Report grades and I have all solid As and only 1 B. I calculated my GPA and it’s currently 3.96.

Should I ask my guidance counselor to send in these grades or wait to send my 3rd quarter grades which will come out around the last week of March?

Thanks!!

Last week of March will be too late.

If you don’t get accepted, I doubt it would be because of the drop in gpa. It’ll be because they can’t take all the qualified applicants. Grades are only one component of your application.

Send them now! And then again! I don’t think that little drop will matter at all. Just don’t get a C!
