Chances of Getting in to Bates EDII

Hi everyone!
I applied EDII to Bates and I was wondering what people opinions were on be being admitted.
SAT: 1390
GPA: 3.52/4.0
I have many extra curricular under my belt such as a 4 year varsity gymnast (captain this year), volunteer at hospital, Best Buddies club, Connect and commit club (community service club through school), a service trip to Guatemala (twice), and work experience at a gymnastics gym.
I have been in contact with my admissions counselor for some time and I met her at a school visit. I also wrote a letter to someone who’s niece works at Bates and is in contact with admissions often, the letter is being passed on.
Thank you in advance!

I’m going to guess you will be deferred to the RD round. You sound like a good candidate, but maybe not good enough that they will be wIlling to make an offer without seeing the rest of the pool first.

Of course, something in your essays may spark something – it’s impossible to know that in a forum like this.

Good luck!

Thank you so much!

Hey I have a gpa of 3.5 Weighted and still got in via ED.
Not Legacy+Asian Male+Not from New England
Maybe my 35 superscore 36 ACT helped;
but I guess it’s mostly just how you portrayed yourself in your personal statment+activity section.

I think Bates’s selection process is more “fit” based rather than solely based on numbers.

Good Luck!

Thats great news, thank you! Congrats!

I applied ED II as well! Good luck!

Good luck!

@gardenstategal You were right!

@GracePic , we’re you deferred or did your essays wow them?

I was deferred! Still have a little hope, we will see… @gardenstategal

Good luck, @GracePic . You seems like a lovely applicant and I am sure you will do well, wherever you end up.

@Lindagaf Thank you much, I appreciate it! I still have my fingers crossed for Bates!

I was deferred too! It’s still my top choice so I hope we both get in!

Ultimately I was rejected but thank you everyone for your responses!!

After being deferred ED2 I was accepted.

To anyone who didn’t get in, keep hope. The toughest roads lead to the most beautiful destinations.
