I was deferred. Should I ask to meet with an admissions officer?

Thanks @notjoe!

Of course. That is why I suggest OP respects the process and not inundate admissions with a desperate plea for facetime. S/he should have some faith in their application and be patient until RD. If waitlisted, that is the time to bring out the heavy artillery.

I think your counselor has a very active fantasy life. Thereā€™s no way any applicant turned a rejection into an acceptance by insisting on meeting with Admissionsā€“unless he was offering to bring along a million dollar donation!

@MommaJ, I think the price of entry is now $5M. Sorry.

Adcoms are busy now with RD. Last thing they need is a deferred kid asking for face time. The risk is they may think youā€™re unaware of their processes and the demands on their time. Imo, not good. If anyone calls, it can be the GC, if he (or the hs) has a relationship built with your area rep. He would confirm your interest and etc. Best thing you can do, imo, is continue to make a solid impression- if your exam results are truly high level, send an email update. Presumably, you already gave this your ā€œbest shot.ā€

For some kids, some colleges, if they didnā€™t have an interview, they could call and ask if there is still a chance for that. But you would likely be talking with an admin.
