I wish the class of 2010 the gift of time

Just a quick note after talking with my son after his first year at Washu.

His feelings about the school changed dramatically after the holidays. He found his niche more and more as the year went on. One of his friends left a VERY select program in November, saying it wasn't for him. He actually left the college. What could he really know after 2 months?

My S is now staying over much of the summer in a co-op (student housing just off campus) where he will be living for the forseeable future (he helped cook last night!!!!!). He has found the students he most relates to...the profs he can talk to and a prof to do research with this summer. It's wonderful!

Good luck to you all!!!!

What a success story! Way to hang in there with him. I'm hoping I can do the same.

Thanks...You'll be fine. It is hard to hide your anxiety from them though..I am impatient and wanted him to be ecstatic in the first month which he wasn't. Thankfully, his expectations were much more realistic.
