I am very interested in politics, and have a relatively open summer this year. I want to volunteer for one of the candidates in my state's gubernatorial race, but am unsure how to go about this. I have seen a few posters say that they "interned" on a campaign; is this the same as simply regularly volunteering? any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Go to the candidate’s local campaign office and offer to do whatever you can to help. Look for things to do, too. For instance, you may be able to help a lot with Facebook and Twitter because you may be more familiar with how to use that social media than the older staffers are.

More than likely, high school students who say they “interned” for a campaign are just putting a fancier title on “volunteering.”
