How competitive are internships with presidential campaigns this coming summer? Would a class of 2011 freshman be able to land anything significant?

Also, what value does simply volunteering for a presidential campaign have as experience on a future resume?

ive done a few political internships. A lot of menial work. They just want free labor from idealistic young people. I dunno....take my advice with a grain of salt though. Ive been pretty disenchanted with the whole political process.

Yes, as a freshman you would have a shot with campaigns. A few things to keep in mind though:

You will not get paid. You will be doing extremely menial work (moreso than with other internships). You can, however, make great contacts, especially if your guy wins. Keep in mind though that your resume (at least for awhile) will be defined by the person you worked for. So, don't work for Barack Obama and then expect to get hired by the Heritage Foundation the following summer.
