I took a tour of the University of Central Florida. It is a total party school with almost zero real academics. All they showed us was the pool, the rec center, the really nice dorms, etc. We walked through the engineering building to go see a creek or something. I have two friends who went there. One, who was an A student at a good high school, flunked out after her first semester because she partied too much, and her brother is taking 5 or 6 years to graduate! Their dad says UCF-you can't finish. I'd never go there!

Any school in Illinois that isn't Northwestern or U of Chicago... I just can't stand living in the state. Unless you want to major in engineering... then U of I at Champaing-Urbana is a good bet... if you can stand living there. No Ivies, because of the possible inferiority complex I'd have, being an atypical schmuk around all the trust fund babies... Wait, take that back. Penn i would consider only for Wharton (for people that hate it, why?) and columbia for NYC (or is NYU a better bet?). Except those 2 in Chicago and WUSTL, nothing in the Midwest.... it's been my prison for 10 years... I'm on my way out!!!

you dont like chicago? i think theres a couple of other decent schools in chicago like loyola and depaul although not as academically elite as northwestern and uchic they are not bad institutions by any means

I'm agreeing with dlusnl1...nothing except UIUC or NU for me that's instate (I'm looking for engineering). I just want to experience something different than everyone else at my high school. And even though the engineering is great, UIUC is lower on my college list, since about 90 people from my school's graduating class last year are going there...and I just don't like the campus.

No cc's for me, I have nothing against the Ivies (I'm applying to 2 of them), but St. John's anyone? I like reading, but not that much...

Bob Jones University, BYU, and Asbury College in Kentucky. Asbury reminded me of back in the Footloose days where social dancing wasn't allowed (that was fiction, Asbury's brochure is not)

Humboldt State University

Preppy and suburban or middle-of-nowhere - i.e. Colgate, Hamilton, Lehigh, Lafayette, Bucknell, Gettysburg, Villanova.

Preppy and Southern - i.e. Washington & Lee, Furman, Vanderbilt.

CSU-Stanislaus in exciting Turlock, California! WOOOOOOOOOOO

UC-Merced.

Anywhere in Idaho.

Anywhere in Hawaii because I've heard nothing good about the schools there or the standard of living for the non-wealthy. Hawaii kind of sounds like a crappy place to live IMO.

Middle-of-nowhere state schools such as Angelo State in Texas, where my cousin goes.

And, of course, the usual Bob Jones/Liberty/Pensacola. 10 PM curfew?? Girls can't leave campus w/o a male escort??? What century are we living in again? Oy (says the non-jewish girl :-D)

Also: I'm not sure if I'd really hate going there or anything, but I really don't understand NYU and BU. It's like going to a public school at private school prices. The whole point of private schools is that they're smaller and more personal, so then what's the point? I don't get it.

UW- Madison

Too many people I know go there. Even if it is an okay school, and even if I would get in state tuition, I would rather die than end up there.

The classes at BU are pretty good sized. Depending on what school or class of course, but alot of classes are pretty average sized. They do well with ratios.

As for Nova right in my backyard, it's really not a big deal. We're right near the best mall in the country, and only a half hour or so from the city.

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo

Who would study architecture on a campus that looks like a left-over collection of WWII bomb shelters? There is no creative inspiration there.

villanova, hmm i would not want to go there, but it is 15 miles from philly (i.e. not
in the middle of nowhere)

We're a little further than that, but not by much. Depends how you drive and what shortcuts you take.

"Middle-of-nowhere state schools such as Angelo State in Texas, where my cousin goes."

Have you ever been to San Angelo? It's the nicest town in the entire West Texas region, which is a HUGE area. One of my favorite towns in Texas, actually.

Personally I think Angelo State is a better school than Tech, especially when Lubbock is probably the worst college town in Texas and it's also out in the middle of nowhere.

Being out in the middle of nowhere ain't bad as long as the town is nice. San Angelo is a nice town; Lubbock is not. Personally I'd rather be in the middle of nowhere than having to deal with the traffic and crime in Dallas or Houston.

Wellesley. Too many women in the mold of Hilary CLinton.

Wabash-an all boys school......h*ll no!!!!

villanova, any texas school, or any school souh of duke and west of uchicago.lol

Colby... (no offense if you are/did/plan to attend(ing) this school!) I've heard that the students there are rather unfriendly... my friends who visited confirmed this. Of course, I'm sure that there are very nice people who attend Colby... but everyone I know got a 'bad vibe' from the students.
