IB Candidate, AP Scores

Hi, quick question, I am currently an IB Diploma Candidate in my school. I have to take a certain amount of IB tests, classes, etc. etc. My school only offers a few AP classes, APUSH, Psych, Gov., Stats. Would self-studying for many tests (like 5) and getting a 3 or higher on these tests, and then winning an award such as AP Scholar with honor, help my college app? Would this have any advantage when applying to top 15 engineering schools? I will most likely focus on science and math ap tests, and only report scores which are beneficial to me (4 and 5). Would being a diploma candidate and ap scholar be helpful when applying to top colleges?

Anyone who can help will be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Having an IP Diploma is enough in itself…these are two parallel programs and you don’t have to do both.
Do well in your IB tests and you will get college credit for those classes.

No. Colleges aren’t asking any applicant to self study any AP’s and are not impressed by those that do. For anyone, AP scores carry little to no weight in the admissions process. Whether an IB candidate should take AP exams to potentially earn credit for subjects outside of their HL courses is another question.
