IB Exams + Final transcript

As colleges require you to send your final high school transcript to them, is the final IB exams count as high school transcripts? I finished school already and all that is left is my IB exams. Also are lower IB exam results than predicted result in rescinding applications?

You need to send your IB scores to them because they can get you credit. You also need to send them your transcript. No, they won't rescind admissions unless it's a British university and you got a conditional offer.

McGill might also rescind admission, I think. They LOVE IB.

Our IB coordinator came to one of our classes a few days ago and asked us which college we are going to and if we want to send our IB transcript there. He also mentioned that you would also need to send the regular transcript as well.

Im going to Georgia tech, does anybody know if they give credits for IB or not? If not I might just not send in my results.

just wondering do must uS schools prefer iB to AP?

or does it depend on the school?

by the way, happy test taking! :)

I believe Americans prefer AP

overseas,

Thanks, so if I happen to get really bad, I dont need to send the IB results to them right? (Although I wont get the credits)

That's right, unless the results were tied in to your acceptance. They were with one of the schools my son applied to last year. Other than that, no one else cared. In the end, he did send the results and received a lot of credit from the school he decided to attend. He ended up doing well on his exams. Most probably you will to. Don't worry. Be happy and best of luck.

overseas,

Will they tell you if it is tied to your application or not? As they did not specify in my case.

I think Americans views IB and AP equally, though students who want to lob off credit hours in university might prefer the AP because some universities don't count the whole Diploma or Standard Level exams, those meanies.

anonamous, I believe when they send you an acceptance, they'll state if it's conditional based on your IB scores or just contingent on finishing the senior year on good academic standing.

GA Tech's standing on advanced credit for IB... From the IBO website. Hopefully it's up-to-date.

thx Izzyj,

For some, like higher maths, they give credits for 4 and above. But if i get 3 in a HL subject, I fail the IB diploma though.

Agree with IzzyJ. Schools want to know that you are taking rigorous courses. And it's true -- some schools will only give credit for a 5 or better on HL exam.

You don't have to send in your IB score report if you're going to the U.S., just the final high school transcript.

Actually, if you get a 3 in one HL subject, you can "balance" it with a 5 or better in another HL subject.

If you are worried about your scores, find out from your IB coordinator if you can send the form in later once you see that you have done better than you thought! Like in early July when you get your results. I think that is possible. You may be pleasantly surprised.

Yeah you can decided later if you want to send them.
