forget IB, its useless. n/m im probably just angry because my school doesnt weigh our IB courses that much - .03 points each for the classes that count. How much are your classes weighed?

IB is weighed the same as AP at my school - well, after all, most of the classes are combined. IB offers the extra lab class (TOK) that helps toward class rank, but that policy is changing for the current sophomores so that labs don't help class rank at all.

IB does help in college admissions if your school offers it. If you take the regular program in a school where IB is offered, the IB kids will get into the better schools and they will wonder why you didn't take it. AP can, however, be just as good IF you choose the right number and difficulty of courses.

IB isn't the only thing though. Those who are in IB (the diploma program) are usually smart, active (as in ec's) people to begin with and take IB to further enhance the quality of their HS experience. A lot of the diploma candidates in my classes have already finished the CAS requirements and it's only halfway through IB1 (grade 11).

In AP and partial-IB, it varies much more because these students don't have to do everything. Lots of them do of course, but there are more who only take 1 or 2 IBs or APs. The IB diploma, in general, produces more students who are the type that colleges are looking for. It's all relative - a student with an easy IB path of studies (say, Math studies and Environmental systems) would have a lower chance than someone with Calc BC and Physics or Chem AP... but an IB student with Math HL and 2 HL sciences would have a better chance than the AP student referred to above. It's just that there are more diploma candidates who take the whole thing as compared to AP students. :)

Just my 0.02 :)
