Where can a junior/ senior in hs do an ib internship?

At his dad’s investment bank.

At your level you are much better off getting into a good college and focusing on club involvement and becoming more comfortable networking, etc. You can start reading publications, websites, etc to prepare as well. In terms of internships, without serious connections, it won’t be much of an option yet.

IBanker

You are a little late buddy. Most people start applying in the 8th grade.

agree with most of the posts above…

I would sat that the one thing you can do if you want some sort of internship that looks decent on your resume is look to get an internship in PWM at the local branch of various investment banks. My junior and senior years of h.s. I worked in PWM at Morgan Stanley in my city. Btw, a large % of the people at Wharton do this after their freshman year.

What was good about doing this job during h.s. was that after my freshman year I was able to secure a good internship (working in M&A at a large company) compared to most of my classmates which then landed me good banking jobs soph and jr year.

Some of the other posters are treating it like a joke but I agree with whartongrad. In highschool, I worked for a grocery store for junior and senior year which I regret. At that stage, it is possible to get a PWM job at places like BAML or MS. In college you’ll be at a huge advantage when you’re applying for internships your freshman and sophomore year. And getting a better internship at that point will put you at an even bigger advantage in your junior/senior year of college.

My advice to you is to call up local branches and talk to the higher ups about an opportunity. Don’t go with a retail/restaurant job if you’re interested in finance!

btw when i reached out to these places most said they didnt offer anything so I proposed making it an unpaid internship…got me the job and in the end they actually did pay me - ended up being a bit above minimum wage but its better to be sitting at a PC working on models/finance related things that working in retail or restaurants :).

Haha thanks for rubbing it in I thought about quitting so many times but I didn’t know this option was available.
Really, OP. Even if it does end up being unpaid, it will pay off in the end if you want to do IB later on.

haha not rubbing it in…I worked in fast food a few summers in high school too :)

it was terrible. we should just be glad that we dont have to do that for a living and are actually working on cool things.
