ib or ap? help please

hey guys i am a up coming sophomore and i am still debating on ib or ap. what is your recommendation? which do you think would colleges like more?
thanks alot in advance

Colleges look at them as equals. It’s all about what fits you better. Depending on the college you attend, you could get far more credit taking APs (seeing as a competitive applicant from a top school will take at least 6 or 7) as opposed to just 3 or 4 credits for IB Higher Levels. The IB Diploma requires CAS hours (creativity, art, service or something like that) as well as an Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge class. It is a very holistic but focused and narrow path you will tread, whereas APs allow for far more academic freedom as they are nothing more than single classes taken at your own discretion, and not an entire academic program with which you need to follow for two years.

Fair warning: though the AP may sound far easier, both have their difficulties and every student will see more success in one of the two programs – some in more drastic proportions than others. My best advice is to ask upperclassmen, teachers and guidance counselors about what bests suits you.

Also, why is this in the Columbia forum? This has nothing to do with specifically Columbia…
