What do you mean “even the evst schools”? “stmg”? " I don’t have to science "?
Are you saying you’d need a full ride?
Or that your parents can’t pay full cost?
sorry i was quite in a hurry!
evst : best
stmg: something
to : two
They can pay full cost but they don’t want to and no no no I would not need a full ride, just a little aid so that my parents agree to pay my tuition.
@petitpois:
It’s much easier if your parents can afford 25-35K a year (it’d mean earning a 25-40K scholarship).
The difficulty will be to have a good list, with safeties, honors colleges at flagships, LACs, etc, and not just the same 30 schools all Europeans apply to (often because they’re known for their doctoral programs and research output, which have nothing to do with undergraduate experience). In short, don’t rest on reputation and what people around you know - I’ve helped a lot of kids and I can tell you, , the hard part will be making a reasonably tiered list.
Have you received your Fiske Guide 2018 yet?
they can afford that for sure I agree with you and am trying to look more into other, less famous schools. I think liberal schools could be great for me :)do you have any tips for my list?
No, I never even heard of it! What is it and should I get it? thank you
Fiske Guide is a good guide to US colleges and universities, popular with international students. You can also research schools online by using search engines such as princetonreview and collegeboard.
What is your major? @petitpois5
Sis you buy a Fiske guide?
i think I would apply undecided! But I am for sure not planning to study CS, engineering or smth like that
and no I will try to order one asap
hi! I wanted to thank you again for your help at this point I have been accepted at UCLA, Kenyon, Whitman (20k merit aid), Tulane (20k merit aid) in the US. At this point my parents want me to go to UCLA or Tulane in the US Nevertheless, I might end up in the UK because I received offers from London school of economics, U of Edinborough and other places I will have to see where else I get accepted
It’s hard to beat UEdinburgh for CS/AI, not sure if that’s the “course” you selected. UCLA CS is going to be very competitive with very large classes but it’s an awesome university, right now many many kids the whole world over are green with envy.
