Ibanking seemed to become a popular field in business. I am currently an undergrad majoring in accounting. Which of the majors will get me further in live; Ibanking or accounting?
Is Ibanking like a fashion trend or will it really lasts for a good amount of time?

Have you watched the news lately? I'm sure there are many investment bankers (particularly those folks at Lehman) who wished they had gone accounting. There is and will continue to be a strong demand for accountants in this weak financial market.

Good luck getting into IBanking lol.

Getting further in life depends on YOU, not the name of the profession. A good accountant that's passionate about his work will probably become more successful than a miserable banker, and a good banker will be more successful than a miserable accountant.

But on average, an Ibanker will make much more money and will have more "prestige." An accountant will have MUCH more job stability though.

2VU609, have you been watching the news lately? barclays is going to be keeping most of the ibd of lehman..

I would double major in Ibanking and Kinesiology.

How do you major in Ibanking, is this a joke?

no, but only a few schools offer the ib major. It's pretty cool; they visit and tour banks, and they focus on building relationships with the bankers. I like it, because you work in your school's trading room all day; it's great. Check it out! Google B.S. in Investment Banking $cience. I'm always glad to help, but don't get greedy on me... ;)

Edit: they are hurting for students right now, so it's like a 100% chance you'll get in these programs. And once you graduate in 4 years; IBD will be healed waiting for you! If not, you can wait another year, stall, and get your M.S. In IB$. They all have 100% placement rates!!!!!! Let's keep this between the 2 of us, so it won't be too competitive.

Study accounting. Pass the CPA exam. If you can not get into ibanking, you will have accounting to fall back on. It is still a very much in demand degree. Professional accredited accounting programs require you to take finance and other business courses as well as accounting courses. You can get an ibanking or accounting job, provided you have a high gpa and graduate from a well respected college (university).

Major in accounting with a minor or double major in finance. I do not think you can go wrong.

Very few of the schools recruited for investment banking offer an accounting (or any business) major

I completely agree with lionheart
