i'm interested in investment banking and will be attending duke university in fall '06. how easy is it to get into investment banking out of duke? i know ibanking has a lot to do with where you went -- best jobs go to wharton, princeton, etc grads. i plan on double majoring in economics and public policy, or majoring in public policy with economics minor and management certificate program... something like that. anyone have any ideas/experience?

Get good grades, and show some leadership and you'll be fine.

"Get good grades, and show some leadership and you'll be fine."

I don't know exactly what you mean by that but banking internships are extremely hard to get regardless of where you went or your grades and leadership qualifications

get your GPA above 3.8, because the president of a fraternity. if you can do that, you must have intelligent and great social skills. and you are probably are great interviewer.

Ibanks recruit, wine, and dine Wharton kids.

For the rest of us, read up on everything: WSJ, Vault, BusinessWeek, Economist, etc etc. Read, and practice social skills.

I'm pretty sure Duke is well recruited also.

Ashok Varadhan came from Duke and became the youngest MD at Goldman Sachs I think

Duke is very highly recruited as are all top 20 schools regardless of whether or not they have a business school.

All the Ivies, Duke Stanford NU and other top 15-20 schools are all heavily recruited, get a decent GPA and be active and you'll do fine

Decent GPA would usually be one thats around a Dean's List cutoff
