ID Admission Decision Thread

lol, ive exhausted both my hs curriculum and my local community college curriculum so im just waitin for college and sophmore or junior standing

lucky :P

I sometimes/often/always wonder why I'm doing this....having my heart set on Rice and, if that doesn't work out, these nice other schools that will only give me a teeny amount of credit inproportionate to the blood, sweat, tears, etc. that I've invested in my studies...I know at least two schools where I'd receive full sophomore standing for IB, one of which was prepared to offer me a full ride - tuition, room, board, etc., if I designated my National Merit thingie there....I've simply come to the conclusion that I've lost all inklings of sanity and sense...

meh. I have already gotten a rejection EA from a college that I REALLY wanted to go to, and so I will not be surprised if I get a rejection from Rice...and plus, my essay for Rice was the worst essay I have ever written...I wish I could go back and rewrite it....but oh well....

D got her ID packet today priority mail(nice touch!). 48K Trustees' Distinguished Scholarship, and 12K Century Schoarship.

really... where are you from

and congrats to your daughter

Hang in there, Emelia. Lots of kids would like to have your accomplishments. Think it through, put it aside for a couple of days, and then go with your gut when making the Big Decision.

Congrats.

i hate the 60 second rule...

emilia, I feel your pain. I'm a freshman at Rice this year, graduated full diploma IB from HS last year. IB was all well and fun in high school (besides eating up lots and lots of time) but I've come to the conclusion since being in college that AP would have been infinitely more useful as far as credit hours go at Rice, since only HL scores are considered and I took zero AP tests.

Ouch....but thanks for the input.

hopes in a twisted way that this will improve her chances of getting into Rice - that because she won't get much credit, she'll be giving Rice more money over a longer period of time than those lucky people who already have tons of APs and credits amassed...

haha, yeah. plus I guess it's okay because I'm perfectly happy to spend 4 years here.

congrats to all the texas people who has gotten in and good luck to everyone else! i'm so nervous. :)

:) That's good to hear. Did you receive any merit aid?

I just love how IB sucks away one's free time and life force at the same time...there's so many things I wish I could have done but didn't get to do because IB has become my life...overdoses on melodrama

lol... im glad im only taking 2 aps this year, down from last year's 11

I got one teensy scholarship. I don't even know what it was for.
IB is weird in that you'll spend four years trashing it and hating it and making up malicious lists of reasons why the program is the worst thing that ever happened to education, and then you'll get to college and actually miss it in some sick, sick twist of fate.

under the influence of lots of Dr. Pepper, makes an inebriated vow to never, ever stop hating IB :D

hmm, thats an intersting take on it

what is IB?...i have never heard of it

A worldwide organization committed to the total and rapid deterioration, destruction, obliteration, and general frying of the neurons of a once-motivated, previously intellecutally-capable young person.

gasp You deprived child... :p

In short, IB is like AP because you take a bunch of exams.. except it's "international" and traditionally British. It's different from AP because IB controls your life. Literally.
