ID Student - Needs Help in Deciding

<p>I was admitted early decision at CMU into the Design Program. I am majoring in Industrial Design. I also did a priority admission at the University of Illinois. </p>

<p>CMU offered me very little in grants (about 3k) and so I would have to take on about $100K in debt to got there. U of I offered 6K and my parents can afford to send me there. </p>

<p>I am torn as to which program makes the most sense. They are both strong programs. </p>

<p>Any comments out there about the ID program at either school? Looking for some insights.</p>

<p>I do know that ID is very strong here, and you will get a job out of college.</p>

<p>That being said, 100k in debt is a lot of money (that’s anywhere from 150-200k that you have to actually pay back thanks to interest) and may not be worth it.</p>

<p>Maybe you could call and ask for more scholarship, tell them that Illinois is offering you more but you would really like to go to CMU?</p>
