...upon Katharos' suggestion. idad is a source-finding magician.

I appreciated idad's input.

I second that

Okay, while I appreciate the sentiment here, it should be pointed out that there are many knowledgeable parents and others who contribute their time to trying to provide whatever help and support they can to students considering a school we all, for the most part, see as a wonderful place. I am continually amazed at the quality, and more than that, often the sensitivity of the advice posted on this forum. I am also impressed by the community and caring displayed by the prospective and current U of C students and, with a couple of exceptions, their support for one another. And the sense of humor can't be overlooked, it fits well with The University.

Ah, wonderful! Who could have been so brilliant to suggest this thread! :P

I agree with idad. Everyone here is so knowledgeable, helpful, and caring, both parents of students and students themselves (current and prospective). I appreciate everyone's input and have learned so much during the past few months.

Thanks, everyone, for being so supportive. I have had a great time here, and I hope to continue to do so. I am glad I chanced upon this site one day. :)

DAMN YOUR MODESTY IDAD.

You are fantastic; the quicker you come to acknowledge this, perhaps the quicker we will acknowledge these "other" parents.

Yes ... (sniff)

Seriously, idad, you also deserve the patience above and beyond award in the presence of colorful trolls.

GASP, jean how could i have forgotten....

Well, it seems i still know how to be an ass.

You deserve an equal amount of praise. In fact, the two of you make up some kind of super internet couple (virtually that is)....parenting over our ignorance with your links and words of wisdom.

yeah i love ohio_mom, she makes me feel like i might have a chance of getting in to u of c.. and idad really does know almost everything u of c related..

hey ohio_mom do u know any good undergrad places in the midwest that have anything like a public health degree?? or biostatistics?

this thread just makes me lol

I am definitely grateful to have Idad and Ohio_Mom here. In a way those two are like the mother and father of CC. Then Esquared is kind of like the little brother that's insanely smart, mildly sarcastic, witty and creative.

I love it here on CC and thank you all for all of your contributions.

(I wonder if idad has a link related to appreciation...lol)

Nothing much to say..Just a bunch of thanks..=) really..

Now, of course, we also have newmassdad - who helped us out so much when my son was applying - and patsfan who is a great fan of the university.

But the reason that we stick around are the young scholars who actually believe that knowledge is important - no matter what institution they will be attending. I have had the priviledge of chatting with many young people that are brilliant, or passionate about learning, or both. Some of you will do great things within your own communities - and some, I suspect, on the world stage of politics, letters, or research.

what's the weather like up there on that "children are the future" pedastool, jean?

smooch

Let's not forget, Peacemaker.

Round of applause for all the parents on the UChi board. You guys are the greatest. Who need thousands of dollars in professional college counseling when we have you guys? :p

Yeah. Peacemaker is awesome.

Yeah for idad!!! He's a wealth of information!

gosh...I'm blushing! I haven't been on CC for a week or so (sort of trying to wean myself because I spend too much time here and neglect other things!! Does that sound familiar to anyone?) and then I come on and find a complinment. You made my day Private_Joker and biztogo. Perhaps you can help me with my 16 year old D who doesn't seem to really appreciate my advice. You got any advice? She just seems kindof surly with me. I know this is a stage but I know this whole college search is beginning to get difficult. I should start a different thread about this, I guess!

"Perhaps you can help me with my 16 year old D who doesn't seem to really appreciate my advice. "

We're not miracle workers, lol!

You are so funny ohio_mom1 It's going to take a miracle!

i havent been active on cc for a while...
just want to say thank you parents for all the help and advice you've given me throughout the college process and with all the questions that i had!
