IDOC needs 2009 tax returns?

My parents' 2009 tax returns are not yet available, and the IDOC is due March 1. Should I just send their 2008 tax returns? 2009 returns will not be ready for a while...

Thanks in advance for answering.

Yes, I think it mentions if you do not have 2009 to send in 2008 and then send 2009 as soon as available. I doubt though you will be able to get the IDOC documents there by 3/1 as they need to be mailed unless you are in a location where you can still send them out. Do it as soon as possible though regardless!

do the tax returns actually have to arrive by 3/1, or is that just a postmark deadline?

From the IDOC site (also though remember the schools may have a different priority date that may be earlier):

When is my IDOC packet due?

To ensure timely processing, your packet should be received by the College Board no later than:

March 1, 2010

If the above date has passed, mail your IDOC materials to the College Board as soon as possible. Individual colleges and programs may publicize a different date. Check each college’s or program’s information to ensure that you meet their specific dates and requirements.
