IDOC non-filed income

My dad paid me for miscellaneous jobs done building the deck out back. In total he paid me something like $275 in 2016 and I never filed any kind of tax return for it. I reported it on the FAFSA and CSS profile and now am filling out IDOC stuff. The non-tax filer’s statement is clear enough and I’m reporting the $275 as a source of income, but the next document asks for a W-2 or substitute document, or else to check a box if I am “not reporting any income.”

I’m reporting income though… but these substitute documents aren’t really options either (1099, letter from government agency, year-end pay stub, or “other”)? Is this only supposed to be income reported to the IRS?

Omg I have the same ish problem as well. I didn’t file any tax return as a student or W-2 form. Yet when I click the “I do not expect to…”, it still asks me for W-2 form or other evidence such as the 1099 form…I’m so confused

If you don’t have a W2, you don’t have one. Your father is not required to issue a 1099 for $275.

Is there an option of “worked odd jobs for cash”?

If you aren’t sure, try asking the school.

At least you are trying to be honest.

A federal tax return is not required for that $275.
