I submitted my CSS Profile several months ago for an early deadline, along with all of my other schools to avoid the fee. Anyways, when are we contacted by CB for the IDOC? What do we need to do from there?

Not sure when they will contact us. I think we send them our completed 2005 and/or taxes, whichever the individual schools request.

I have the same question...After almost missing the FAFSA deadline today (oops), I now am wondering about IDOC and what the heck to do with the mess of files that I turned our tax returns into.

For some of my schools that require an IDOC, they have sent me a form to fill out, and to attach the 2006 tax forms when they become available...It doesn't seem too bad.

I talked to one of schools today (Dartmouth) and they said IDOC notifications are starting to go out this week by both snail mail and e-mail.

It'll suck to have to do all these things and then get rejected in the end.
I pray I get in.
My parents haven't filed their taxes yet so, do we have to make estimations again?

Our IDOC notification arrived today via e-mail. Fun, fun, fun! :D

Does anyone know whether the IDOC notifications are sent out to every student applying for fin aid?

If college X receives 10,000 applications for admission (of which 5000 request financial aid), would all 5000 be sent these notifications? (I can only imagine how much paperwork this would generate, especially if only a small fraction of the applicants are eventually accepted ... i.e., if only 1000 students are to be admitted, why ask for extra paperwork from all 5000? In theory, I supposed the fin aid office has no idea who will be accepted so maybe they need to process all applicants as though they have will be offered a seat.

I just got mine today in my e-mailbox!
I think that the CSS Profile thing will automatically send you an e-mail if the schools you put down need the IDOC.

The IDOC notification has no deadline - just "as soon as possible" - is there an IDOC deadline, or does each school have their own deadline?

We were asked to submit material before March 1. I'll have to check whether each school has a separate deadline but I got the impression that IDOC is like "info central". Colleges where you've applied for fin aid, can get whatever information from this central source, if they're interested.

I believe if for some reason you do not receive an IDOC notification, or if you lose it and the cover letter, you can go to the following site and retrieve a duplicate:

You will need the student's social security number and date of birth to retrieve the appropriate documents.

So do the schools you applied to request this IDOC thing? Do they request it of every student who has applied for financial aid regardless of whether they will be accepted or not?

bump (10 characters)

can someone explain what IDOC is?
