IDOC Question? W-2 forms?

I have a question regarding the required documents. What are W-2 forms? My dad said he did not have it, but it says that it is one of the required documents that we must include.

Clarification please?

A W-2 form is a statement received at the end of the year from an employer. It summarizes how much the person earned over the course of the year, how much was witheld from those earnings for federal taxes, state taxes, social security, medicare, etc. If you have more than one employer, you'll have a W-2 from each one.

However, not all people are paid in that way. Some people --often independent contractors or people paid on a fee basis-- they will receive a 1099 instead. A 1099 is also a summary of income, but taxes and other deductions are not withheld and it's the responsibility of the recipient to keep track of any money (taxes) owed and pay it.

Does your dad have a job? An employer? Or does he have his own business or something like that?

Oh thank you for clarifying. He is self-employed and so he has a 1099.

Is W2 form..a small grey piece of paper (that is attached w/ the Income Tax Return)?
Also: my dad does not have 1099....so should I not worry about it?

Innovative, W2 forms come in different sizes, shapes, and shades of black, white, and gray. The easiest way to identify them is that they'll say "2008 Form W-2 Wage and Tax Statement" on them.

Yes, when you send in your tax return, they are generally attached to the front page.

If your dad doesn't have a 1099 then you can't send one in.

So my dad isn’t self-employed. How does this correspond to an international student needing to file a W-2 form?

I see a W-2S form but no W-2.

what if I or my parent do not have a W2 form or a 1099? what do I do? do I just send in my IDOC without the forms?
HELP PLEASE
