Ok, so I've never had a job/my own income before in my life, yet IDOC asks for proof that I didn't need to file taxes this year. How do I do that?

There's a form for you to declare "non-filer" status on the IDOC website. Fill that out and submit it instead of a tax return.

On that non-filer form, it says to write in any other sources of income and to provide supplemental forms for verification of these sources...so should I just put "zero/N-A" in those spaces?

Thanks!

yup, i'm in the same situation as you and i put "n/a, was not employed during the year of 2007 "and $0.00 on the other column.

what if you were employed (i got like 2000 dollars) but it was a stipend and i didn't have to file for taxes?

KJ: Just fill out the non-filer form and make certain that you add any interest you may have received from a savings account, any work, even a stipend, similar to declaring tips. Also, if you are a dependent on someone else's 1040 (parent/gaurdian) they have the option of declaring any interest on their forms. This will show up on their forms that you also will need to submit. Please know that this really is not too painful of an exercise. Just be truthful and document as much as you can to avoid any issues.

Well, I got a $200 stipend last summer from a 6 week art inquiry thing, so I'd might as well put that. Thanks!

ummm...me question?

when I received a stipend the person in charge said they do not have to take taxes out of it, do I absolutely have to report this on my non-tax filler form?

i would put the stipend on it just in case because although you didn't file taxes, the non-tax fier form asks for any income you have earned throughout the year, which i assume includes stipends.
