IDOC requested by Harvard! What does that mean?

I applied to Harvard as a RD applicant and submitted a CSS Profile. Yet, I am yet to receive a request whatsoever for IDOC. Does that mean anything in terms of my application status or my Financial Aid status?

You might try logging into the IDOC site using your soc sec number. If that works they should have sent you an email, which presumably got lost. If it doesn’t work, why not contact Harvard fin aid office?

@dreamfollower Not all of the colleges that you applied to access the documents through IDOC. Less than half the colleges my D applied to wanted information through IDOC.

@godukeyee You should have got an email from College Board with subject line, "IDOC Notification - Your Next Step for Financial Aid. Email provides directions as follows:

Dear [Student Name],

This message contains important information about the next steps you and your family must take to complete the 2012-13 financial aid application process.

The financial aid office at one or more of your college(s) or scholarship program(s) collects additional documents, such as federal tax returns, from students and their families through the College Board’s Institutional Documentation Service (IDOC).

As soon as possible you should:

Go to the IDOC website: https://idoc.collegeboard.com and click the “IDOC” button.

Enter two of the following in the Sign-In box and click “Sign-In”:
Your IDOC ID. Your IDOC ID is: [7 Digit number]
Your Date of Birth.
Your Social Security Number.

Click on the “IDOC Requirements” link. It will provide important information including:
Required documents,
Submission deadlines, and
Specific directions on how and where to submit your documents.
Print the information, read it carefully, and keep it for your records.

Click on the “IDOC Cover Sheet” link. Your Cover Sheet is a control document and must accompany all documents that you send to IDOC.
If you are required to include your parents’ financial information in your financial aid application share this email with them.

If you are applying for financial aid from a college or scholarship program that participates in IDOC and you do not send in the requested tax forms, your financial aid package may be delayed or denied. Colleges to which you are applying cannot finalize your eligibility for financial aid until you submit your IDOC packet. We suggest you complete the IDOC process as soon as possible.

@cahsparent
Thanks for the information
And no I haven’t received anything from the College Board about my financial aid application. I guess I gotta call them and see what’s up.

If my parents’ 2012 tax returns are not ready by March 1, can I submit the 2011 tax returns to the IDOC and submit the 2012 ones at a later date?

Don’t get too excited, or read too much into these tea leaves.

Last year, my son received an 11th hour communication from Emory regarding financial aid issues. We all figured it was a sign that he had gotten in.

He didn’t get in.
