Good afternoon, I logged into IDOC and it has a federal tax return as a requirement from me (in addition to a separate form from my parents). I am an international student and I do not have to pay taxes, so what do I do?
Please read Harvard’s forms in their entirety and follow the directions: Page 3, under Parent’s Income Tax Return for 2014 https://college.harvard.edu/sites/default/files/EA_Foreign_15_16_0.pdf
If you (the student) earned income last year, you need to get a statement from your employer detailing how much you made. You submit that statement, along with a statement detailing your parents’ earnings.
@gibby Thanks for your reply. The problem is not with my parents forms, as I know what to do for them. I was referring about me. Harvard is requiring 2 sets of Federal Tax Returns, one custodial (parents) and one student (me). However, I didn’t work, and included that on my CSS profile, so I have no idea why it is showing up as a required document. The problem is that it’s shown as required and not optional, so i assume I would have to upload something. I just don’t know what, because I have no form of tax documentation for myself.
Go to Harvard Financial Aid forms: https://college.harvard.edu/financial-aid/forms-resources/forms.
Make sure you review all forms for International students, and upload those to IDOC, including
https://college.harvard.edu/sites/default/files/Financial_Statement_for_Students_from_Foreign_Countries.pdf
https://college.harvard.edu/sites/default/files/I20COF_1.pdf
https://college.harvard.edu/sites/default/files/FSVS_form.pdf
In addition, the IDOC, has a form for students who did not work, called a “non-filer form” which you need to complete.
Thanks @gibby for all the help.
