Hi! everyone, since I got accepted to Penn State and Purdue, I can't decide where I should go to study industrial engineering. If anyone know information about this program in both school, please give me your opinion about it. As I know, Penn State rank number 4 and Purdue rank number 3 which is very close.

Also, I am Asian and love to eat Asian food. I love beautiful campus and the town that close to the city in case I need shopping.

S is faced with similar choices. Both schools have campuses that I would call “nice”, but not necessarily beautiful. Penn State has mountains in the background. Purdue has, I think, nicer facilities. Both schools have very little diversity, and your dining choices will be there, but be very limited.
For Penn State, check out the “Green Bowl”. There are a few obvious asian restaurants, but we have not had the chance to eat there.
I don’t think the rankings in this case matter that much.

Thank you! desilu. That helps me a lot, but what is Green Bowl, dining hall??
What program are you studying right now?
I heard that there is Panda Express or something on campus but I’m not sure.
Also, I was admitted to U. park

There is a panda express and multiple sushi and stir fry shops in a few of the dining commons. There are also several downtown sushi and chinese food stores as well.

The Green Bowl is a restaurant that is slightly off campus. It’s worth seeking out. We ate in Findlay Commons yesterday. The food was varied, and of good quality.

definitely penn state. i personally like it much better than purdue which i found somewhat boring. anywho, it’s a great college & has a college town that kinda reminds me of a city. it was amazing. so many shops. i didn’t really get a chance to eat in state college when i was there, but i heard they have alot of options to choose from, all affordable and delicious.

Hi Everyone, I just wanted to let everyone know from my own personal experience of what a great college PURDUE truly is. I am from the state of New York and it seems like people here think Purdue is an Ivy League school. Its a great well round school from Engineering to Agriculture to even Aeronautics. The first and last man to step on the moon- PURDUE graduates. Neil Armstrong even has a building dedicated to him on campus. Purdue has its own Boeing 737 and a Boeing 727 parked at its own PURDUE UNIVERSITY AIRPORT. How many people can say their college has its fleet of Boeings let a lone its own airport? Purdue agriculture is also second to none. There is no other school that has contributed to the world of agronomy and soil science than PURDUE. Companies like Monsanto, Dupont, and even Syngenta are run by PURDUE graduates.

PURDUE is very well respected and when you walk out with a PURDUE clothing on, people will comment you on how good of a school PURDUE is. Trust me i know. I wear PURDUE everywhere and i get common responses from random people like " WOW! you go to PURDUE? thats a great school", and " PURDUE, thats an IVY LEAGUE school, right?". and “PURDUE, your must be smart?”…

Point being, PURDUE has a great reputation, and is seem as a IVY LEAGUE status by many. If you go to PURDUE, it be the best decision you make, i know i did when i chose to go there. PURDUE’s one of the best and i am well respected when i mention that i went to that great school.

Desilu, i would like to make a correction to your “diversity” comment made earlier. Purdue is ranked top 5 in the number of international students that enroll each year, look it up. And from own personal experience, being a Purdue grad myself, i didn’t have one class my 4 years where the class wasnt at least 30-40 percent minority students. So just wanted to correct you on your wrong assessment on Purdue.

If you wanted to be seem as someone who went to school a lot of people mistakenly think of as an IVY LEAGUE school than chose PURDUE. If you want people to think you graduated from a college with a great football team than Penn State is your school.

Hey Popita, since some just want to spread propaganda and not help you make your decision i will do my best.

Nearly every dining court at Purdue has an asian selection daily. you should check the menus of some of the dining courts like Ford or Wiley as they definitely serve asian food daily. There is also an asian restaurant in the Union building. You will have no problem finding asian restaurants off campus as well. There are asian and sushi restaurants within 10 minute walk of the academic campus.

There is not a lot of shopping aside from Purdue gear on campus. West Lafayette and Lafayette are easily accessible as purdue students ride city buses for free and you can find any store you like there im sure.

Both Purdue and Penn State obviously have a great reputation and i can tell you there is no group on the Purdue campus that gets more respect than engineers. yes, all the other schools are awesome too but everyone knows how rigorous and difficult the engineering classes are.

Of course a campus visit would really help, but let me know if you have more questions.

Also here is a link to the menus from this fall at Ford just so you have an idea. [Purdue University :: Housing and Food Services](<a href=“Menus - Purdue University”>Menus - Purdue University)

Well this isn’t really the right place to answer this question, most people here are biased towards Penn State. So obviously more people are going to want to tell you to go to Penn State.
