I know that admission says that they won’t consider IELTS as a substitute for TOEFL, but should I send them IELTS score report anyway as a supplemental document? My IELTS score isn’t too terrible (overall band score is 8.0, but speaking is only 6.5), but my first SAT score is, and even though I’m going to request score remark and take the SAT again, I still worry about the whole thing. So, should I, or should I not sent it?
The second question is pretty stupid, but please bear with me. My SAT Math 2 score is 800, but my score in the Math section is only 690… Will the 800… somehow, by some miracle, make up for the terrible score?
Yes, you can send anything you want. It may not help, but it won’t hurt. And the 800 in math does prove that you can probably handle MIT level classes. But that is the only thing that scores prove. Scores alone will not make or break your application. Same for the 690, alone it will not keep you from getting accepted. After determining that you can keep up with the work, the test scores mean nothing, and the rest of your application is most important.
@rothstem Thank you.
