I just see so many people applying to MIT/Harvard/Yale etc. having like a hundred SAT II tests, AP tests, plus ACT and SAT and all other possible tests. Say you have 3 instead of 2 SAT II tests with equally good scores. Or like the 2 SAT IIs + 3-4 APs. Does that give you an advantage? Or do they just not regard it all that much?
I'll probably do 3 SAT IIs but I was thinking of just sending in my Math II and best science score. Now I'm thinking I should do really well on all 3 and send them all in.

I’ve seen some people saying that taking more than what is required gives the college more information to base their admissions decision on. Conversely, I’ve seen some people say they don’t look at the result, so idk :)

Yes, it would be best to try to score well on 3 rather than 2, but, since SAT IIs aren’t a relatively big factor in admissions in the first place, it wouldn’t really give you an advantage per se, say, in comparison with a student who has only 2 subject test scores but slightly more interesting/better extracurriculars. If studying for the third subject test disrupts some sort of activity or if it wastes a lot of time (meaning that you are purposely self-studying a lot for it just to have that third test as opposed to just doing a little bit more review), then I would not necessarily take it. Otherwise, you should just go for it. Do well on all 3. If you are taking them all on one test date, then the only thing holding you back is not studying.

Do 3 instead of 2 only if you think that studying for the extra test will not compromise your chances of getting good scores.

Even if you take 3, colleges only look at your two highest scores. They have too many applicants to worry about how many tests one person took.

I’m planning on taking all 3 on the same test date. Score Choice applies to SAT IIs so no need to worry if I don’t do well on the third one. I’m definitely going to emphasize doing well on the Math and Physics, but I will also study for the 3rd. I’ll just send in my 2 highest, unless I got like 800 800 800 (which you know, I won’t.)
