i love it here, i had choices between umich, purdue, northwestern, and here, all costing me the same over four years, besides purdue(i'm in-state), due to financial aid, and of all of them, i loved case the most, and it was where i decided to go.

i strongly suggest that you make a campus visit, perhaps one before it gets cold, and if you'd like to, a second one when it is cold out(without a guide if you'd like a faster and non-repetitive walk).

most of the people i know in the chemE program are freshman, and they all take the general engineering courses. i myself am a BME, so i have classes when them. our largest class is the chem 111(chem for eng) that has over 400 kids. obviously the class is huge, and it's hard to have one on one with the teacher, but going to office hours and just hanging out with other kids, or even your friends, will help you get to know your teacher, and let your proffessor know you too(and this applies to all classes, which is very good for close-shave grades between two letter grades). every class that i have as a freshman all employ the 90-80-70-60 grading scale, but as far as i know, case lives up to it's reputation for having the second hardest workload for students in the nation, behind MIT, for i know tons of kids who work their butts off(and still have a social life), who still have trouble with keeping their grades up, and then there are those who do all of that and still keep awesome grades

don't let that scare you, the key is to have time management, and if you have that, campus life and studying can mix together very well.

campus life is good here, the freshman go out to their fair share of parties(off-campus and on-campus), and it all depends on how much you look for it. that's probably the different thing about social life here, you have to find it, rather then just having it happen and you knowing when and where it will be.
