if anyone has any question about hotchkiss

yeah, but i heard that they built some new ones…it was somewhere in one of these threads…

lets see…

Yes, day students do have dorm rooms at Hotchkiss, but always with a roommate- basically that just means a desk in a boarder’s room.

The Prep English program is changing for the upcoming year- it’s going from separate English and History courses to a combined Humanities course- combined English and History with some art and philosophy. It sounds really awesome- I wish that had been the case when I was a prep!

And yes, two new dorms were just built- this is the first year they’re open. They are Edelman (lowerclass boys) and Flinn (lowerclass girls) and they are basically palaces- new and gorgeous.
The dorms at Hotchkiss are:

Lowerclass boys: Edelman, Van Saantvord (VS), Tinker
Upperclass boys: Dana, Watson, Coy
Lowerclass girls: Flinn, Memorial (Memo), Bissell
Upperclass girls: Garland, Wieler, Buehler

god, i really wanted to go to hotchkiss but I got put on the waitlist. i need to get away from my drugged up school and find a place where everyone is intelligent and driven to succeed in life.

I go to a private boarding school (Sem) and everyone does drugs here anyway. I really want to go to Hotchkiss too.

aaand… bump :)

nope!..(have to lengthen in to ten)

As drugs go, has Hotchkiss in fact cleaned up? In the mid 90:s, Terrapin was the place to hang out, replete with comfy furniture and bongs on hand. As a No Second Chance school, such opportunities for students in those days, were shamelessly ignored for a very long time. Also, school nurses had lucrative side-businesses, selling (stolen) ritalin. A daily diet of the Jerry Springer Show was the main event in the student center, and broomsticks were to be feared.

The easiest way to get into H back then, was to be one of the brightest 13 yr-olds in the land and go into 9th; though this meant, being in the same class as a 16 yr-old alumni student, who needed more time to prepare.

It would seem that times-are-a-changing.
