If fall and spring are 16 weeks and sum&wint are 8 and 3, what system am I on?

quarter or semester or something else?

When a school says students with more than four semesters elsewhere are discouraged from applying, it hardly makes any sense to treat each season as an individual semester, for then entering as a junior becomes impossible.

Are the shorter seasons each grouped with a longer season to form the equivalent of one semester?

If I'm on the quarter system, what's the equivalent of four semesters?

If I'm on another system, what is it and what's the equivalent of four semesters?

That is a semester system (16 weeks fall, 16 weeks summer, plus summer sessions offered).

When the college says “4 semesters only” they usually do not count summer sessions against a student. As always, do confirm this with your specific college if you are concerned.

If on quarter system, the Fall, Win, Spring are considered the basic academic “year” and the Summer quarter considered a summer session. So 4 semesters = 6 quarters (and usually taking summer quarter is not counted against it, but again, ask the specific transfer college for confirmation).

The 3 week winter session is also optional: is it also not counted against a student? Is it customarily grouped with either a fall or a spring sessions (i.e., considered to be an offshoot of one or the other?)

Don’t worry about the winter session.
