If I plan on being a political science / history major, how important is SAT Math?

I'm a junior, and I took the SAT for the first time in October with no preparation...

I got a 700 on CR, and I think I can improve with a bit of studying, but I got an abysmal (560 :( ) math score...I'm planning on improving it, of course, but I think there is an obvious difference from my CR to Math.

I really think I can do better and I am going to work on it, but the truth is my SAT math will never be as good as my CR. I'm not touching any more math than I have to in college, and my interests lie in history (then eventually law).

I've also heard the LSAT is mainly Critical Reading type things, so maybe this will work out?

SAT Math is a basic requirement for everyone, from math majors to english majors - it's the minimum expected of any undergrad, and it's important whatever you're majoring in. that's why it's called the Reasoning Test.

Now Math subject tests are a different story

The Math section is the easiest one to improve by studying.

Since you're starting out with a relatively low score, you have the opporunity to improve a LOT. Just spend time studying. Review every single problem you get wrong and figure out WHY you got it wrong.
