If it's so unpredictable.....

If admissions is so unpredictable then why do some applicants say, "I didn't get into any of the ivies I applied to" or MIT, Stanford, ETC, who had good stats.????

thats the point. bc people say that its unpredictable

How is it unpredictable if you don't get into any us news top 10 school though?

^I agree, if you didn't get into a single one, then there was clearly something wrong with your app (ie, you just weren't good enough). The "unpredictable" thing comes into play when you're accepted to one or several top schools, but not another. Or if you're accepted to a top school but rejected at a "lower-tier" one.

There is always a reason. I hate it when people say "its so unpredictable because there are so few spots and so many qualified applicants." There is a always a reason especially when you deal with many colleges. Unless they put the qualified applicants on a wheel and spin there is a reason someone doesn't get accepted. Call it being realistic or a desire to be unhappy it is still true.

Lakerskingdom: for SOME people, it IS predictable... i.e. they have a snowball's chance for acceptance . For others the best we can hope is the unpredictability. Like Mallomar said, the unusual thing is that some accept you and some don't.

Unpredictable doesnt meantaht they put all 'likely' applicants in a hat and pick out 1000 or so. I means they like a certain type of applicants, or prefer diversity, so someone got in above you. This happens OFTEN, so it is possible to get rejected from all of the schools you applied to and that is unpredictable.
