If my teachers attended a school which I'm applying to..

I have two teachers who attended Middlebury for their undergraduate degrees... if they write great recommendations for me, will this add weight to my application to Middlebury?

Also, I have a teacher who attended Oxford as a graduate and an advisor who attended Yale as a graduate. If I apply to these schools, would their recommendations hold greater weight?

Unless colleges are shown that if you get in, those teachers/advisor would be willing to donate significant amounts of money.

Other than that…I’m not sure how it will benefit you. But of course, if they write you GREAT letters like you’re expecting, that alone is an added plus.

No…

In the grand scheme of things, the recommendations are not going to have a significant impact on your application. They never trump the combination of GPA, rigor of curriculum, and SAT/ACT scores.

Did the teachers with the graduate degrees work as teaching assistants at those universities, or in the undergraduate admissions office? If so, they might be able to write something specific about how you compare to the students that they worked with and/or helped make admissions decisions about. The two Middlebury graduates should be able to write about whether they think that college is a good fit for you. This means that you might be able to get a somewhat more personalized letter out of these referees, but none of these writers is going to make or break your admissions chances.
