If this works for you, you are in... if it doesn't, you are not.

just wondering, but do you guys think its smart to set up that account if you dont know your admission?....i dunno, i didnt. whats the point?

seriously tho
i got a university day invite but i can't set up an account or w/e
should i freak out about this!?

I don't know, I forget what the significance of a university day invite is. personally, no i would not freak out

I think this is pretty cool, and yes I am positive that anyone who can log-in has been accepted into the university, but people who cannot log-in STILL can log-in, because not all the ID's have been updated yet.

so you're positive xindianx, eh? lol why do u think it is for real? jw.

It makes sense that those who can login were admitted. It seems that it could go either way for those who cannot login. I say this because it wouldn't make sense creating accounts and entering information for 30,000+ people, just to reject 2/3 of them later.

I logged in and got an email!

Oh god I can't believe this is happening to me again, this is how I found out I was rejected from Barnard, I can't do this again! I just get the "Only current members of the NYU community are eligible to use this function." message. I don't understand why this is happening to me. I thought my 2210 on SATs and decent GPA could get me into NYU, what did I do wrong??

cool2bars...you get that message when u fill out ur info, u cannot even access the NetID?

It doesnt make sense to create accounts for all accepted students then deleate 2/3 to 3/4 of them later either. I'm surprised people are able to create NYU email accounts without sending in their deposit.

true, i do agree phoenix. all of this business is so odd! what is it? a heaven-sent prayer? just another computer glitch? who knows?

iunno...I got a Sunday at the Square thing and I was able to create one

no its not another glitch, this happens every year a few days before acceptance packages are received

scrapnel, since you seem to know what's happening, can you ascertain that the account validation thingie is a sign of an admission decision?

Students,

Please be advised that the Undergraduate Admissions Office at New York University considers it a serious offense to have students abusing technology in this way. There are two issues here. First, students who have been provided personal information posting this information on-line in a general forum. And second, other students pursuing information which they know has not yet been made available to them.

There are a number of ways that our office can indeed verify the identity of students who have posted on this site and we certainly can access information about who may have already activated a Net-ID prior to receiving a notification letter from our institution. Individuals can anticipate that these actions could potentially have serious repercussions with regards to their application to our institution.

Should you have questions regarding this matter please be encouraged to contact our office at 212/998-4500.

Seriously, we will find out soon enough.
Just WAIT.

K. I agree with carebear. I'm over it.

maxy - as ive said several times on this thread, no it is not at all a sign of acceptance. i dont know what exactly it is, but people before (in past months and past years, ive read lately) have not been able to access their accounts the few days before admissions packets come out and STILL WERE ADMITTED. i dont know about it going the other way, but i would just assume that the ones that were able to access are the ones whose applications have been fully processed (including perhaps mailings). dont read too much into this guys.

To prevent future damage, I for one would like to urge the administration of this board to REMOVE all threads through which applicants may or may not be able to check their status.
