What on earth does this mean?! My mom was playing around with my NYU ID before and was able to create an e-mail account for me and everything on NYUHome; I even tried joining the NYU Facebook network just to see if I could (and it worked!). I haven't received any notice of being accepted or rejected- no little "congratulations!" cards or letters or e-mails. I'm about to have a conniption if I don't hear from them soon, but I can't imagine this being a bad sign. Anyone know anything about it?

OK, I tried creating a Net ID but got this message: Only current members of the NYU community are eligible to use this function.

Is that a bad sign then?

How do you do it? It sounds like a good sign but you never know.

Ok. I figured it out and I get the same message that I have to be a member of the NYU community blah blah! I'm not sure what it means but my message can't be a good sign and your message probably is. Good luck!

Where do you get your NYU ID#? I would think it's a good sign -- a similar situation happened with BC applicants who could view their Residential Life forms online prior to being officially accepted.

You should have gotten a letter nthanking you for applying and on the bottom is the number.

Also, i know about the BC thing and people who did not get those Res. Life Form links were accepted as well but this NYU thing seems more reliable that it would be an acceptance.

Thank you all so much! I'm trying not to get TOO excited, just in case this was just a fluke. I'm not sure how my mom did any of this (I was out babysitting while she was checking all of my schools for status updates), but I'm going to call my best friend (already accepted to Tisch) and see if she can activate it so I'll have a better idea of what this means.

i also got the message that only current members are eligible to use that function =(

I tried this same thing the week of Early Decision Letters and it worked (and I did get in) Buuuuut I went to precollege this past summer at NYU and the ID and Net ID were the same so it could have been left over from the summer

I'm just trying to stay somewhat calm and not jump the gun before I hear from them. It's so hard not telling anyone.... As much as I'd kill to get in, at this point I just want to hear SOMETHING from NYU!

Ugh. That's aggravating. My application was confirmed as complete on the NYU Forum, but I never got any mailings so I have no way of checking (and I didn't give them my social security #, either). Good luck.

got the bad message... I'm going to try to start quitting this addicting forum before that small envelope arrives....

how do you check it?

Never mind. I figured it out, and I received the "bad message," but I don't think it is an indicator of my admissions decision.

EarlyGrad is right-- definitely don't take this as being an indicator of your admissions decision! For all I know, this could just be a mistake on the computer's part. It's not over until I either have a small envelope or a beautiful little postcard in my hand.

my message seems to be a little different when I try to log in. it says "you are not YET eligible to use" haha maybe a good sign?

Just relax.

Wait until you get your new NYUID in the acceptance letter.

The message doesn't mean anything.

i just tried, it said you have to be a member. damn =(

According to admissions office (phone call to them) mail will be going out on Tuesday/Weds. of this coming week. Good luck all!
