well.
the common app has 2 essay questions. the boston common app supplement also has 2 essay questions. So do i do all 4? or just the supplemental ones?

It depends on which school or college you are applying for within the university. If you are are applying to COM, Education,Engineering, Management, Hospitality Admin., Sargent or any of the accelerated programs, then you must do the (500 word) essay on why you choose your field/objective. The other essay, which everyone must do, is really just a 12 line/short answer on why BU.

this raises another question, im not sure if i want to go into hospitality, can i do regular business in the argiculture and science department and then transfer to hospitality admin, IF i want to after 1 yr
SO ur saying the common app essay questions are not required? only the essays for the boston supplement are required

I did not say that. You must complete the short and long (500 word) essays on the common app. BUT, on the supplement, you need to do an EXTRA essay ( in addition to the "why BU") only if you go into the schools that I named. You do not need the "why I chose my objective" one if you are applying to Arts & Sciences or the other schools that I did not list (see the common app. supplement list). You must do all 4 essays for certain programs only, otherwise 3. My DD has not finished her BU application yet because of this...she has to write the (additional) long essay on why she wants to study in the school of management and what expeeriences led her to choose this field.

But wait, if u go to the boston university website, and apply online using the boston website(NOT COMMON APP) there are only 2 essay questions. the common app questions are not on the boston website. SO basically its better not to apply through common app, u wont need to do the common app questions?

The BU app. that I had downloaded had very similar essays to the common application. The only difference is it dosen't have the second (short answer) "essay" from the common application...there is NO section asking you what extracurricular activity held the most meaning for you. You still have to do the 500 word essay (like the common app) and the second 500 word essay on why you choose your field of study (if you are applying to the schools that I have named previously). No real difference at all IMO. Everyone must also do the why BU short answer section as well.

just wondering also, im applying to management program at BU, but its hard to put in words why i want to go into business. i like math, working with numbers, etc.. but how should i write my essay? any suggestions would be helpful
